Ban the use credit reports for use by auto insurance companies for the intent of determining the cost of auto insurance.

Created by S.L. on January 12, 2013

In many if not all states auto insurance is required by law to operate a motor vehicle. Auto insurance companies have been using consumer credit reports to evaluate citizens to determine the amount they will charge individuals. As a citizen with a clean driving record i am appauled to find my insurance go up considerably based off not my safe driving record but off my credit report. This is affecting for the most part the poorer working class citizens who in alot of cases credit has been affected by job loss, pay cuts, forclosures ect. This really should be illegal for those required by law to maintain insurance on thier vehicles. This should have been handled by our elected officials. Remember if you cant get to work, you cant pay your bills. This could happen to anyone.
