"Hands Up Don't Shoot" is a plea from our community for President Obama to create a bill and sign into law a measure to protect citizens from fatal police brutality when the person of interest is unarmed and displaying a surrender stance or act. Unfortunately the senseless shooting of Michael Brown Jr. was not the first and will not be the last if we don't create a new law to control the police from becoming jury, judge and executioner. There are countless of people who have been killed by police when the person was trying to surrender. We all ask the question "Why did they have to shoot?". The answer is because they are allowed to. The next time it could be our son, daughter, family member, friend, co-worker or neighbor. Now is the time to act but we have to do it the legal way.
