Electronic voting machines are easily hacked to alter the outcome of elections. According to Ed Felten, a White House advisor on Science and Technology Policy, "a criminal who can inject malicious software into this voting machine can control how the votes are tallied. His malicious software can steal votes, and it can cover its tracks so that the theft cannot be detected.” There is no excuse whatsoever for the continued use of these machines. They must be banned completely and immediately from use in all elections, including primary elections.
