Current law (Sect. 7(a)(1), Public Law 93-579, Privacy Act of 1974 codified as 5 USC Sect. 552a) does not go far enough in banning the denial of services because of an individual’s refusal to disclose their social security number.
This petition demands a federal law to completely ban any governmental agency or private business to require a social security number to provide services with no exceptions
This federal law will also require any agency or business to destroy all records of social security numbers they have including third party verification of record destruction
This federal law would also provide stiff penalties for non-compliance
