There are a few states who still use the gas chamber to kill animals that are stuck in the shelters. This method is inhumane and causes the animals to die a slow painful death. The animals are often piled into small containers and can be heard whining, bleeding from their eyes and ears, and sometimes don't die after the first round of gas. Animals that must be put down should be humanely euthanized.
