The use of gas chambers goes on today in shelters around the country. Death by gas is one of the most heartless and horrible ways for an animal to die. Typically numerous animals are piled into the chamber either in cages or just loose. The instinct to escape has already begun, as they try to climb back out of the box. Once the lid to the box is sealed and the gas turned on, the panic begins. These animals know something is terribly wrong and they desperately try to escape. The sounds of the screams can be deafening. It takes typically 20 minutes for them to die. The animals vomit, urinate and defecate because of terror and because their bodily organs are shutting down slowly and agonizingly. This is a disgusting,inhumane way for an animal to die and should be banned nationwide.
