This petition is to ban FDA approval for the use of genetically modified corn, soy, and other toxic organisms in infant formulas sold in the U.S.A. This extends to the use of hexane in DHA/ARA extraction.
There is insufficient study on the effects of GMOs in the human diet. Babies and children are especially vulnerable to the allergies, nutritional problems, and antibiotic resistant diseases that are a direct result of genetic modification in our food.
There is currently only one infant formula sold in the U.S. that is completely organic and GMO free; however, the use of brown rice syrup as the first ingredient in this formula is not only unhealthy, it can cause gastrointestinal and digestive upset.
Parents need safer options, and our babies deserve to be protected from toxic GMOs.
