Between the events of Ferguson, Missouri, the murder of Trayvon Martin in Sanford, Florida and the incidents of excessive force during the Occupy protests of 2012 around the country we have to ask when will it end? President Obama has issued statements in which he said we as a country would not stand to foreign governments committing acts of violence against their citizens but meanwhile on out soil this happens?
What I propose is that we strip all patrolling law enforcement officers of any lethal weapons and instead arm them with non-lethal alternatives such as tazers, batons, and pepper spray.
