Methadone maintenance patient are allowed to take home bottles of methadone. Some of the clinics fail to monitor their patients and these bottles of methadone are sold or given to people on the street who are not methadone maintenance patients. This has caused many deaths. The methadone clinics should only be allowed to dispense the daily amount of methadone to the patients at the clinic to prevent further deaths as a result from methadone intoxication.
