Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD), a phenomenon depicted by the sudden deaths of entire colonies of honeybees, has seen a drastic rise in recent years. Many of these instances have been traced back to the use of neonicotinoid insecticides and similar products which cause severe damage to bees’ nervous systems. This is not just a problem for farmers and beekeepers - the whole world's food supply is in jeopardy.
According to Dr. Joseph M. Mercola, "...there are about 100 crop species that provide 90 percent of food globally and, of these, 71 are pollinated by bees. In the US alone, a full one-third of the food supply depends on pollination from bees -- so if bee colonies continue to be devastated, major food shortages will inevitably result."
