ban the use of wheel clamps or "boots".

Created by W.H. on December 15, 2012

Wheel clamps or "boots" are used to immobilize a vehicle on which they are attached. These devices are used by both law enforcement agencies and private groups, who charge hefty fees to remove them. In many cases there is no way for the victim to remove the device without damaging it and incurring additional fines. Because the use of a wheel clamp renders a several-thousand dollar piece of machinery (which its owner depends upon for day-to-day life) an oversized paperweight, this is tantamount to extortion. Almost any situation could be better addressed by use of a ticket or, in more extreme cases, towing. Whatever the circumstance, vehicle owners have a right to operate their vehicle. Support this petition to assert that right.
