Ban the widespread use of BVOs, food coloring, and high fructose corn syrup.

Created by C.N. on May 19, 2014

With recent discoveries of how damaging the ingredients in simple products like soda and flavored drinks, we now have the chance to improve our health system and the health of our people. BVOs (Brominated Vegetable Oil) is a component used in citrus sodas, and are now slowly being removed from some mainstream sodas. This ingredient is patented as a flame retardant and can slow down neurological function. Caramel coloring is another ingredient that is possibly carcinogenic with recent studies. High fructose corn syrup is one of the key components in our high obesity rate since it is a cheap alternative to sugar cane. Even more recent studies have shown an association with addiction with HFCS.
