The word "epic" has become a blight upon the American vocabulary over the past 5 years. It has even been used casually by major news outlets and other trusted sources. An epic, as defined by Merriam Webster as a noun, is:

As an adjective, Merriam Webster defines epic as:
" of, relating to, or having the characteristics of an epic"
Casually describing everyday events such as small viral videos or celebrity haircuts as epic degrades the actual definition of the word and lowers the seriousness of events of large magnitude.
