This petition aims to inform our President that we the people, wish for him/her to call on our congress to abolish the electoral college system and use the popular vote to elect the President of the United States. The electoral college makes many feel that their vote does not count. In a way this is true. If you are a Republican in NY or CA you already know your vote is just symbolic and you don't actually have any say. Same for Democrats in Texas. The electoral college is an outdated and inefficient method of choosing the leader of the free world. Some would argue that it protects the smaller communities, yet it's a national election. The majority is what should matter always. This nation was founded on principles of democracy and giving the people a voice. Let's uphold that standard.
