Our system was created with the belief that the people's elected Senators and Representatives would go to Washington as the voice of their constituents. The need to hear all opinions, rationally discuss ideas and compromise is implicit to the process.THE PEOPLE aren't getting representation if their elected officials don't show up for a vote let alone be there as part of discussions.
Abusing the position by taking full wages for part-time work, the perks that are afforded the position AND better healthcare/pension than most "regular" people EARN is too common and should be changed. If I don't show up to work I certainly don't expect to be paid for it.
Any legislation in D.C. applies to all of our country,so shouldn't we expect our elected "voices" actually speak?
IT IS WHAT WE'RE PAYING 4
