Recent mass killings have convinced many that certain individuals are being driven to violence in order to attract media attention. In many cases the killers are gaining more attention than the victims.
This petition asks that the President support a constitutional amendment limiting the freedom of the press in certain extraordinary circumstances, when it becomes apparent that an act was carried out primarily to attract media coverage. A ban would be implemented barring airing of the killer's name or image. The ban would last 30 days unless the Senate approves an extension.
