Proclamation- On Behalf of Bessie Coleman’s Legacy, we are honoring her history and achievements, which are amazing. Elizabeth Bessie Coleman was born on Jan 26, 1892 and died on April 30, 1926. She was the first African American female pilot to be granted a pilot’s license in the United States. She was also the first African American female pilot to be granted an international pilot’s license from France. Bessie Coleman’s dream was to open flight schools for students of all races. She wanted all students to learn how to fly and prepare for careers in any field of aviation.
