Become Educator-in-Chief: Once a month, choose a topic Americans are most misinformed about and announce the truth.

Americans are misinformed. Study after study shows that they assume one thing, in contrast to facts. When this holds true, democracy must fail. For example, a recent report found that the public dramatically overestimates our dependence on oil from the Middle East. Other reports have found that the public vastly overestimates our spending on foreign aid, and on NASA. In key policy areas, we need more attention to our blind spots. We need our leader to tell us, once a month, what we got wrong (and back it up with solid evidence). This proposal is for the President to adopt the following practice: once a month, announce the Number One misapprehension in our public discourse.
