Basic human rights outside of Pyongyang in North Korea are still stifled. People are continuing to starve. Prisons that can only be compared to the concentration camps of Nazi Germany continue unabated. Refugees continue to pour across the border into China, where they risk their lives for food and freedom.
Meanwhile, Kim Jong-un's regime continues to ask for food aid, which is only given to party elites, without any aid for the starving.
We petition for the Obama administration to not give any concessions to North Korea without giving the UNHCR access to the country. Further, the United States should increase pressure on China to comply with the UNHCR in not repatriating North Korean refugees in their country, and give the UN access to the Tumen River which borders North Korea.
