Owning a license to drive is a privilege, not a right. This belief is held by many, and portrayed, for the most part, through US driving laws. However, something is being overlooked regarding elderly drivers.
Many elderly are putting the lives of others in danger on the roads. I have witnessed many senior citizens driving unsafely (swerving, pulling onto the road at an unsafe time etc.). These instances are putting the lives of all motorists and pedestrians in danger.
While many elderly individuals are capable of operating a motor-vehicle, many are not, and as people age, we slowly lose our sense of sight, and our reaction time slows, among other potential driving hindrances.
I propose bi-yearly driving tests be implemented for senior citizens, to ensure the safety of all persons.
