Begin a civil and civic county wide effort to get guns out of the hands of criminals and off of the streets specifically

It has become obvious to me at this point that compromise is what is necessary for progress towards a safer America. I propose that it is unreasonable to ask or expect law abiding citizens to relinquish their firearms or any rights they presently enjoy while these rights protect them from any real and substantial threat. Therefore I believe the president needs to create a program and appoint an oversight committee to it which has the power to aggressively increase the severity of and the penalties for all crimes relating to the illegal sale or distribution firearms. Making the aiding of illegal gun distribution a more recognized threat to the security of the public is the first step in promoting effective removal of firearms from the streets and the hands of criminals.
