This petition asks the federal government to begin development of a fleet of star ships inspired by the visionary Gene Roddenberry. Such star ships would allow the United States to explore and potentially colonize the galaxy. A result this initiative would increase job growth in the fields of science and technology allowing the U.S. to become a forerunner in scientific development. Further information gathered through exploration would increase the knowledge of American students and scientists. Also, given the global climate change being experienced, colonization of other planets will be necessary to maintain American peoples, culture, and values in the future.
