Begin a dialogue to repeal the 2nd Amendment. It is an anachronism of the 18th century that needs to be removed.

The 2nd Amendment is being used today to argue for the civilian population to own weapons that belong only in a highly controlled military/police environment. The idea that it is only an armed populace that keeps the government in check is ridiculous on its face - does anyone think our government is now "in check"? Furthermore, the risks posed to the average citizen by these military weapons being in the hands of lunatics and others that are only barely in touch with reality are far too onerous compared to the rights granted to law abiding citizens. Finally, repealing the 2nd Amendment will allow we the people, through our government representatives, to implement common sense guidelines and regulations for the safe and responsible ownership of guns.
