As overconsumption and resource management issues mount, it is our duty, first as the leaders of the free world, and second, perhaps more importantly, as the caretakers of this planet, to find a method by which to extend the resources available to us, the residents of this planet. Within the next several decades, our consumption habits will destroy what resources remain to us.
We suggest offering research prizes to the first genetics lab that can create a GMO cereal crop that contains abortificants, and is safe for human consumption in nearly any dose.
Apply this prize to all commercial cereal crops: corn, wheat, soy, rice, etc.
Subsidize the growing of this particular GMO so that it is cheap enough to be used as fillers or sweeteners, much like corn syrup now.
