Members of our Government take an oath to "defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic"; that they will "bear true faith and allegiance to the same"; that they will do this "freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion"; and that they will "well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office".
However, many members of the U.S. Congress who have signed Grover Norquist's Taxpayer Protection Pledge have allowed his Pledge to supercede their solemn Oath of Office. This makes it impossible for them to govern effectively for the good of the American people. Such a pledge is a treasonous and constitutes a seditious act. Those members of Congress must renounce it immediately or suffer expulsion from our Congress.
