The issue of global climate change has been put on the back-burner for too long. It's time that the United States government actually makes a legitimate effort to reduce the country's greenhouse gas emissions by starting at the source -- power plants. The most commonly used and cheapest fossil fuel burned at these power plants is coal, which is also the dirtiest. It's time that the government seeks to replace these power plants entirely with ones that are powered by renewable energy sources that are cleaner, such as nuclear, hydroelectric or wind energy. Earth is our only home. The destruction of its environments is not worth the extra buck you may save from using these dirty fossil fuels.
