Cable companies are making a killing renting out boxes with full capabilities to their services. They offer cable cards with similar capabilities but the devices available are diminished. They basically are making you rent a box or not get all the services you pay for. I want cable companies to allow you to purchase any compatible box and give you full capabilities to access paid for services. This would make cable cheaper for consumer and more options for consumer as well.
