We as Americans should not fear an inanimate object such as a firearm. If the administration would mandate firearm safety courses free of charge then people would know not fear but understanding. A fire arm is nothing more than a tool, like any other, it has no motivations of its own.
Do we next move to banning cars and alcohol? The death rate is considerably higher with DUI related accidents than the death rate from firearms. Does the administration remember the lesson learned from the days of Prohibition?
