Disabled military veterans should not have to wait many months or years to be evaluated by VA and begin receiving the disability benefit compensation they've earned from their service to our country. All military veterans go through a physical examination prior to separating from the military. DOD should be required to provide a preliminary disability rating to VA, even if it is only at some allowable preliminary rating levels (25%, 50%, etc.). VA should then be required to begin paying at that rating level immediately upon the veteran's separation, and until a more precise disability rating can be calculated and adjustments to payments are made. While this won't speed up VA's disability rating process, it will ensure that separating veterans receive some much-needed funds as they wait.
