There has been far too much unnecessary gun violence in our nation. This is a direct result of the "right to keep and bear arms" and the resulting vast number of guns in our communities.
Guns have no place in a civilized society, other than for use in hunting and similar activities. Instead of allowing people to "keep and bear arms," the Constitution should be amended to allow the use of guns for specific purposes - but when not in use for those purposes, they must be kept in armories from which they can be checked out.
While this will not eliminate gun violence entirely, it will greatly reduce it. How many children and innocent adults have to die before we eliminate the cancer of guns from our society? Please start the process of repealing the 2nd amendment now.
