With the lack of global action to combat climate change and the importance of the Federal Government in our lives, it is imperative that we take action now to prepare for the coming rising sea levels. Since Washington is near sea level, the coming rise in the ocean will be disastrous.
Each government agency should be required to develop plans to move functions and staff out the Washington, D.C. and other coastal areas under threat from global climate change, with a goal of ending all dependency on flood prone areas within 20 years. In order to ensure this initiative can be completed in that time frame, the most critical resources should be moved first, starting within 5 years.
No new government agencies or buildings should be constructed in these areas after the start of this program
