Begin Reformation in the National Budget by Reforming Government Officials' Astronomically Large Wages

Created by J.F. on October 05, 2015

With a growing $17 trillion debt, the U.S government needs to focus of saving money in every way possible so the money can go to more necessary areas. Congressmen receive a pay that is more than four times the average American and they are also provided with many privileges and benefits that cut the cost of their living and traveling expenses. The U.S. government should limit their pay and create a new office that decides the wages or give the power of deciding Congress's wages to the Secretary of Treasury. This would either create more jobs (which people always need) or it will strengthen the system of checks and balances. This reform should also lead to reform in every government official's pay which will raise the attention that is needed reform in the rest of the budget.
