We live in an ever-changing world, and technology is at the forefront of this change. Computers are appearing in every aspect of our lives, yet most children in the American schooling system will never see a line of code in their lives, and those that will won't see it until college. This HAS to change if we want to remain a world power. It's extreme to say that we need a coding REQUIREMENT, because we live in a real world in which technology is not always available, especially in low-income areas, but coding should be a part of the schooling process. Even learning something as basic as java could vastly improve the world in which we live, and help give kids the skills they need for the real world, such as problem solving and creative thinking.
