In the face of partisan bickering, political gridlock, and a thoroughly uninspiring presidential race, now is the time to begin the process of transitioning the United States towards a different system of government.
The two party system is broken and encourages the growth of extreme, irreconcilable viewpoints on both sides of the aisle. This is unhelpful and ultimately damages the country as a whole. A parliamentary system would allow voters to vote for groups which more closely matched their opinions, instead of being forced to vote for whichever of the two options they hate the least.
The White House should do the unthinkable: set in motion the process by which it is made obsolete, and return the american government to the people.
