Taking care of our veterans should be a top priority, and a number of them get less money for their sacrifice then a person on welfare, who did nothing to earn the money they are given. The current rate for mildly disabled veterans who have served our country is far too low. Out of all the government employment active military and veterans get paid the least for their service, and when they get out the ones who suffered disabilities of what the government feels are less then 30% are given a monthly compensation benefit that is below 20% of the nation's poverty level. It is pretty sad when we send our military all around the world to fight for our freedom and care so little when it comes to taking care of them when they return.
