As it is now anyone with an INS number can sign up for our HUD sponsored senior housing, despite their never having contributed to our social security system. As our baby boomers reach 62 (10,000 daily) there is an increasing need for this Benefit of Citizenship. It is not fair, when there are numbers of seniors eating at senior nutrition centers or at rescue mission lunches because of high housing costs, to have people with no citizenship, only INS numbers, getting into our HUD sponsored housing ahead of former tax paying citizens. I propose that be changed so that the Benefits (housing, etc.) of Citizenship be only available to American citizens. To sum, no housing benefits until one becomes a legit American thru the citizenship process, then they can apply for our benefits!
