We must acknowledge Doctor Mona Hanna-Attisha with our nations highest civilian honor for her dedication regarding the discovery and exposure of the Flint, Michigan lead poisoning crisis. Without her consistent commitment to the health and well-being of the children and their families of her community, this scandal would have gone undetected until significantly more damage had occurred. In addition, if she had not persevered and fought the denials of the city and state government, this emergency would have continued even longer.
