The Administration must do a better job of explaining health care reform to the American people. It is an accident of history that health insurance is tied to employment (see Wikipedia - Health insurance in the US).
With 9+% unemployment, and a significant population of 18-26 year olds, one would think that support for the bill would be widespread, not just among these groups, but those with 18-26 year old kids, and those who might be afraid of losing their jobs. People must be educated in simple terms why universal health care is a good thing for society, and why it requires everyone to participate.
Health care costs must be addressed, but just as we decided as a society to provide a basic level of education to all citizens, so should we provide a basic level of health care to all.
