Better Fund the Veterans Administration to Meet the Needs of Our Veterans and Military Families

Created by G.P. on May 29, 2014

As a VA employee for the last six years treating veterans from the Vietnam, Iraq Afghanistan and other conflicts, this writer is convinced that the best place to treat our Veterans is within the VA system. Outside providers are not versed in the specific issues faced by veterans. Blaming the VA is in essence blaming the victim. The VA is short-staffed in almost every specialty area. Certainly some modifications in policies would help (such as changing the policy allowing for short notice prior to employment separation, and not filling positions until after they have been vacated). VA employees understand military culture and how important it is to recovery from such problems as PTSD and mild traumatic brain injury resulting from blast injuries.
