Copyright claims are regularly abused by companies, and it is hurting those who fairly use the content in question.
Several large media companies, including Viacom and Fox, regularly file copyright claims on Internet content that is CLEARLY fair-use. Not only is this tedious to get around for victims of these false claims, but it can hurt the business of people whose jobs depend on using this content (i.e. YouTube partners).
While filing these claims can be very important for these corporations, they do not follow the established fair-use agreements until their false claims are appealed, a process that is damaging to these victims.
Overall, the companies should have no right to remove fair-use content without further review into its legality.
