A bill to tie any future increases or decreases in Social Security Benefits, to the same benefits received by Congress

Created by R.H. on November 19, 2012

I believe that legislation should be introduced which would directly tie any future increases or decreases in Social Security Benefits to those received by members of Congress. This would provide members of Congress with a more realistic viewpoint on how legislation they enact effect their constituency. I also believe, it is only right and just that legislators enjoy and/or suffer the same consequences from their actions that their constituents do. In other words, if Congress wishes to reduce SS benefits by 5%, their Congressional Salaries would be reduced likewise. If there is NO Cost of Living Increases for SS, there is conversely no CLI for members of Congress. Insurance benefits that members of Congress receive, will mirror the same benefits SS recipients receive.
