Food safety & production should not be governed by big business or profit margins. Block the import of Chinese meat & poultry. Additionally, require Country of Origin labels be placed on all food products.
A recent USDA FSIS audit paves the way for cheaper manufacturing of meat and poultry products by Chinese facilities for export to the US. The food safety record for Chinese products is appalling. The audit on two Chinese facilities states the CCA meets US equivalency standards despite one facility demonstrating "variations in presentation that was compensated by a skillful presenter" and finished products with "spillage of gastric contents inside the body cavity" (FSIS Audit, 3 March 2016).
Do not jeopardize our food sources and health in exchange for more trade and bigger profits.
