We have had enough corporate consolidation. The market depends on competition to keep prices low, quality high, and fair treatment of workers. The merger of AA and US Airways will leave only four major airlines in the United States. This will only further lower the quality of air transportation and worker treatment, and further increase the wage discrepancy between workers and executives. The FTC needs to take seriously its responsibility to stop new corporate cartels from forming, and enforce antitrust laws.
