One stated Administration goal is to create Green Energy jobs in the U.S. and to help make the U.S. a global leader in Green technology. The U.S. Gov't initally gave A123 a $249 million grant (not a loan) to deploy lithium-ion battery technology in the U.S., including with U.S. automobile manufacturers such as G.M. It doesn't make sense for the U.S. Gov't to fund Green technology via a grant only to have that same technology end up owned by the Chinese (with absolutely no reimbursement for the U.S. Gov't). The Chinese have already attempted to decimate U.S. solar and wind manufacturers and are now trying to take over the premier U.S. reusable battery manufacturer. China will bring that technology to China and use it to unfairly compete with U.S. manufacturers.
