Next February, the Olympics will take place in Russia.
In June, Russia's President Vladamir Putin signed 3 laws the criminalize homosexuality and support for gay rights:
1. A law banning the adoption of Russian-born children to gay couples or any couple or single parent living in any country where marriage equality exists in any form.
2. A law allowing police officers to arrest tourists and foreign nationals they suspect of being homosexual, lesbian or “pro-gay” and detain them for up to 14 days.
3. A law classifying “homosexual propaganda” as pornography. Homosexual propaganda includes telling anyone homosexuality is normal.
The U.S. must speak out against these laws and demand their retraction. Otherwise, the United States should boycott the 2014 Sochi Olympics.
