The US should boycott the upcoming 2014 Winter Olympic games in Sochi, Russia on the grounds of the new anti-gay laws in Russia. In Russia, tourists are now also subject to fines and sentences as residences for spreading "gay propaganda." Gay propaganda includes being openly gay, protesting, wearing or carrying something that supports LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) rights, and same-sex public displays of affection. Tourists spreading "gay propaganda" may face fines or even be detained for up to 14 days before being expelled from Russia. Not only will this affect tourists, but could even affect LGBT competitors in the upcoming Winter Olympics. This is discrimination of an entire community of people.
