The Russian government has recently passed several anti-gay laws, essentially criminalizing homosexuality, and massively violating the human rights of Russians. These laws also pose danger to American citizens; Russia has already arrested 4 Dutch tourists and will possibly do the same to Americans. Even if an American citizen is not homosexual they may be arrested on the grounds of promoting “homosexual propaganda,” such as simply saying that homosexuality is not evil.
Russia is also now hosting the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Krasnodar Krai. This means that American fans, trainers, and even athletes, can be arrested.
Now is the time for the American government to protect Our citizens and condemn Russia's tyrannical policies by boycotting the Olympics.
