Boycott the 2016 Olympics

Created by M.G. on May 15, 2016

The Obama administration and governments around the world refuse to recognize Michel Temer's Brazil. Widespread corruption, an anti-democratic seizure of power, and deference to the values of the former military dictatorship violate the free will of the Brazilian people and the spirit of the Olympic Games. Moreover, the development of Olympic infrastructure has resulted in widespread displacement of Brazil's most vulnerable populations, major human rights abuses and, like the new government, has been marred by corruption and scandal. We urge the United States to maintain its solidarity with the Brazilian people and refuse to legitimize the faux government's efforts to obfuscate its crimes by boycotting the 2016 Olympic Games unless and until Brazil sees justice and true democracy.
