I propose a boycott of the 2014 winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia based on the recent passing and enforcement of the "Gay Propaganda" law as well as the harsh treatment of LGBT and LGBT friendly Russian citizens as well as foreign tourists. We should not stand idly by as Russian government passes laws reminiscent of Nazi Germany, imprisoning people based solely on their sexual orientation or which sex they identify as. We have a duty as a country currently in the progressive point of our own LGBT civil rights movement to show the Russian government we don't agree or condone their treatment of humans who are being persecuted just for being alive. It takes one action to evoke a world of change.
