The big banks deflect regulation due to their size, complexity, and ability to fund political campaigns. These institutions are demonstrably unstable and corrupt, having racked up billions in fines in recent years, with not one criminal indictment. In the words of the British Chancellor of the Exchequer, "They serve no social purpose." These massive, over-leveraged, publicly funded hedge funds can exist only through bad accounting and Enron-type abuse of every market they enter. We should re-enact Glass-Steagall and limit bank size before the next meltdown and taxpayer dollars are once again used to bail out these bloated parasites.
